Hon. Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka initiated his Election campaign by observing Buddha Wandana at Jyashekararamya Mardana ( Kuppiyawatta Temple). He appealed to all candidates to make their campaigns environmentally friendly. He also pleaded not to use polythene which is very harmful to the environment for campaign decorations. Minister Ranawaka made a promise at the temple to conduct his campaign in an eco-friendly manner without posters, fire crackers, polythene, liquor and other harmful items to the Environment and the society. |

A Ceremony To Award Certificates
The students who received training at the Vocational Training Centre of Pothuwila Sri Suriya Bandara Raja Mahindarama Maha Viharaya, Payagala , were awarded certificates on 14.11.2009 , at a ceremony presided by Hon. Patalee Champika Ranawake, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources.

"Sanda Alankarana" project of Avukana Rajamaha Viharaya
Launching of "Sanda Alankarana" project of Avukana Rajamaha Viharaya was launched under the direction of Hon. Patalee Champika Ranawake, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, which was organized by Archaeological Conservation project of the Department of Civil Defense. The hon. minister gifted a land at the ceremony to put up a monument to commemorate soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the motherland at the war.
